A Fast Word About Domain Auctions

By the way all of the images that I use in my websites may be used on your websites I only request that you comply with the following listed in order of importance:
1) You provide a link back to my website. (If you are sophisticated enough to download a picture from my WebSite, you should be sophisticated enough to use them on your website.
2) If you know my name, you can safely assume that most of the photos were taken by me, Stephen Sanders, in this case of my daughter, Dinah on the way to Eilat (from Tekoa) which is close to Efrat in Israel. (More on this some other time).

Joseph was had a visionary understanding of the future of the world when Pharoh called upon him to interpret his dreams, as told in the Five Books of Moses, The Old Testament, The Bible, Torah. When one goes to a domain auction, the safest assumption to make is that the people offering the domain for sale are far more knowledgeable than you. I had recently tried to purchase a domain form the Registrar, thats where, to date I have purchase all of my 365 (plus one or two) domains. I have only worked with about four total to date and primarily with two.

The domain was great in every way, and it was available, yes it was a dot com. So I went to buy it but then I couldn't! So I got really mad, and as is my usual reflex I suspected corruption. So I went into chat mode with the registrar.

Now if you are like me, you would be taken back by a few things:

1) Even though at times we all want to hit these stupid appraisal programs in their teeth.

What your buying domains in an auction and not using an appraisal program?

A. When the value is high (like over 10k) I want to know why?

B. When the average search is from a few thousand to 10k or even 50k or 100k (and I own domains with Avg Search numbers like this ) I start to get excited.

C. If the Avg Search is like a million, or darn near close, the part of my brain that deals with things like this kicks in. It would be wise to investigate.

D. Sometimes not having enough money saves us. If you only could buy one or two domains, which ones would you want, if your plan was not to flip it, but rather to build it.

Author's Note:

This software is simple for me to use yet its also very limited, I would love to include comments yet  I need to figure out how to do that.

Conclusion, in the domain biz you need to know as much as possible, at the registrar a mistake could $12-34, and that can be multiplied over the years you keep your mistake in renewal costs. Yet auctions can be very tricky, so you need to know  as much possible.

Buying Domains at the registrar is like the $5 dollar minimum craps table, when they raise the minimum to $25, it might be a good time to take a walk.

However if you really just want to build a great website and live in the US, then I have got just the name you need. Pricing is difficult as either a seller or a buyer.

If you are a seller and somehow arrived at a price where you would appreciate having that money, but might also regret having sold it, then you probably priced it correctly. The estimating software has no way to fathom what you had in mind for the domain when you first bought it.
